Criterion's creative director tweets about the direction they're taking with Need for Speed...

Although we've got high expectations for Slightly Mad Studios attempt at injecting a little more realism into the Need for Speed series, the thought of Criterion getting their hands on the venerable series seems like a match made in heaven.

In a recent Twitter update, Criterion's Alex Ward has begun the teasing by claiming:

"'Red lining it all the way and making it pay' - a return to the original 3DO version of The Need for Speed."

Previously, EA has described Criterion's efforts on the next Need for Speed as "revolutionary", so we're expecting a lot, certainly much more than the drivel that was last year's Need for Speed: Undercover.

I played the Road Rash games quite recently on an EA Compendium PSP game - they're still brilliant, definitely in need of an update...

hell yeah both of these games could be released as arcade games on both ps3 and xbox 360 id buy both of em (i sure do miss my 3do) but if these games do ever get converted id wish they dont change the game play but keep the remake/updated version seperate from the origonal version like they did with several previous arcde releases personally all id want is updated graphics and smother gameplay the games them selfs dont need all that much doing to them as they were great games anyway.

3DO Need for speed was one of the greatest racers created, i had many hours of fun with it for sure! A remake of it would be most awesome! Make it happen Criterion/EA!

Also, Road Rash remade in HD would be great too! ;)
