First sighted at last year's Leipzig, Eidos officially reveals its Pokemon alternative on Wii and DS...

We've already enjoyed a sneak-peek of Eidos' Monster Lab during Leipzig last year, it's curious blend of Pokemon meets Tim Burton suiting our particular taste and style. Today Eidos officially lifted the wraps on the Backbone Entertainment title, heading to Wii and DS later in the year.

Set in the eerie world of Uncanny Valley, Monster Lab finds you assuming the role of a mad scientist who must perform an array of intricate experiments to create your very own monster. Using over 100 million possible different combinations, Monster Lab then allows you to take control of your creation, exploring the lands, defeating other monsters, and searching for ingredients to make extra monsters or compete and trade against others online.

Monster Lab is due for release during 2008.
