Early 2010 witnesses Capcom's latest attempt to get Monster Hunter popular in the west...
Capcom may not have been too pleased with the reception given to its latest attempt to recreate Monster Hunter's popularity in Japan across the west with the release of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on PSP, but it seems the Japanese publisher is gearing up for another attempt with the release of Monster Hunter Tri.
Having recently released the title across Japan where day one shipments exceed 1 million units, Capcom has confirmed that Monster Hunter Tri will be making an appearance on the Wii in Europe and North America in early 2010 - and no doubt hopes this title will finally convince us to find the same joy as countless millions of Japanese gamers.
With support for two player splitscreen or up to four players via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, it seems that everybody is banking on Monster Hunter Tri to finally be the one that succeeds, even Nintendo's Laurent Fischer, Managing Director, Marketing & PR, claims:
"The popularity of the Monster Hunter franchise in Japan is undeniable and the Day 1 shipment number indicates that the release of Monster Hunter Tri on Wii will be another major hit for the series. We are therefore really excited that Capcom is bringing this title to Europe so the Wii audience here can also experience the thrill of the hunt. "
Why do we have a sneaky suspicion this is going to go the same as all other core Wii titles; can you really imagine your Granma putting down the bowling ball and slaying monsters for a change?

The Wii audience and Monster Hunter following is different in Japan though, which is by far and away where Capcom's Monster Hunter series is the most popular.

Ive never been so pissed in my entire life. Why switch consoles completely. Monter Hunter would have been Excellent on PS3 PERIOD!! So much more profit....... Wii is for party games.... not so much hardcore games.

I am thoroughly disappointed with this. Monster Hunter has always been exclusive to Playstation consoles. The only thing I'm looking forward to is MH3 for PSP.

Have you guys ever thought maybe nintendo bought some rights? .... think about it. nintendo gets a "hardcore game" people who like this type of game buy a wii , companys make more games like this for the wii cause they see that people who own a wii will like MH ect... and not just the wiiplay type of crap .... the wii becomes more popular to hardcore gamers and nintendo gets some of its fans that it lost with the wii from the start
All this = Money
little drunk so sorry if it doesnt make sense and stuff

Glad to see it's now the best looking game on the Wii. It's shocked Nintendo and is causing a major uproar in the LoZ series. This was the perfect choice. Capcom will finally open the Wii to more hardcore gamers.
Square Enix has tried before to make good graphics and hardcore games, but they haven't gotten anywhere. Madworld was a good attempt, but was also incredibly short. This seems to be the perfect opening on Wii for gamers looking for a challenge.

TBH the only reason i had originally gotten a PS3 was to have the chance to play Monster on it, i've played and beaten all the rest, including countless hours on the original for PS2, which was shut down due to someone leaving....it's almost not suprising that capcom forgot to ask us how we feel about it..

the wii is pretty much the top console in japan so thats why it's on wii. also i do understand that it would be good to make for wii and continue the series on playstations but i dont have a ps3 and have a wii instead so i'm not complaining!

BTW EVEN THOUGH SINCE NINTENDO IS BIG IN JAPAN WHERE MOST OF MONSTER HUNTER'S SALES WOULD BE, MOST PEOPLE OUT OF JAPAN PREFER PS3 ANY WAYS AND MONSTER HUNTER 3 WILL JUST MAKE A REASON FOR PEOPLE TO GET A PS3 AND SONY MIGHT MAKE A PACKAGE THAT THE PS3 IS SOLD WITH MONSTER HUNTER WHICH LEADS TO MORE SALES
