Activision confirms what we all suspected; new Call of Duty due in 2009 from franchise creators...

At the Activision Blizzard Analyst Day, the mega-publisher announced that a sixth instalment in the successful Call of Duty franchise is currently in development at Infinity Ward.

Reports from the event come via Gamasutra, though no details on next year's iteration were made available. It's already been confirmed however, that the Call of Duty franchise is dropping numbered instalments, beginning with the upcoming fifth instalment, World at War.

Despite the lack of details, it'll be interesting to see whether Infinity Ward will return the franchise back to modern warfare, leaving Treyarch stuck in the jungles and cities of World War II come 2010.

It's a bit unclear in Bowling's post, but he seems to be suggesting that the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 sold more units (rather than revenue generated) in like-for-like first week sales compared to CoD4.

Here's a relevant question; by outsold do they mean number of copies sold, or by revenue generated becuase MW2 is 33% more expensive than COD4 for PC, which would explain why MW2 "outsold" COD4. I have a sneaky suspicion that Robert Bowling is trying to prove something to PC gamer's.

That's a bit sexist. I'm male and couldn't actually bring myself to shoot any of the civlians. I know another guy who started shooting and then immediately stopped himself because itt was all a bit too harrowing.

hated the airport scene i tried to kill the terrorists but they just shot me. i ended up skipping the mission.too real  looking.if your intention was to shock then it worked.i suspect the male gamers would have no problem killing innocent civilians. thank you AL.DIVA(gamer tag)
