Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling confirms that Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer component will not include vehicles...
This is a bit of a no brainer really, as Infinity Ward hasn't used vehicles in the multiplayer modes of its various Call of Duty titles in the past, but community man Robert Bowling has now confirmed that they definitely won't feature in Modern Warfare 2.
"We never put vehicles in multiplayer," Bowling told GamerZines. "Our focus is on fast-paced infantry combat, where you're never reliant on transportation."
However, the other developer for Activision's Call of Duty series, Treyarch, has made heavy use of vehicles in the multiplayer games of both CoD3 and last year's CoD: World at War, which is why the question has at least some significance.
Bowling also expanded on the new Killstreak Rewards in Modern Warfare 2, which were a memorable feature in Infinity Ward's original Modern Warfare title:
"We do have expanded Killstreak Rewards now, some of which are user-controlled. For example, where you previously could call in UAV, Airstrikes, and Helicopter Support but had no control on how helpful they were, there are many more options which allow you to take control of the gunner or control its success a bit more for a limited time. Such as the AC130 gunship where you can fire any of the three weapons on it during its limited time in the air."
Roll on November 10th...
