Sales of Ridge Racer 7 expected to double as a direct result of Sony' PlayStation3 price cut in Japan...

Earlier today, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. confirmed that the 20GB version of PlayStation3 will be sold in Japan as a reduced rate of 49,980 Yen (£225.53), and it hasn't taken long for the first response to the news to be made.

Speaking to financial news outlet Bloomberg at the 2006 Tokyo Game Show, Namco Bandai's Chief Operating Officer Shin Unozawa has raised sales expectations of two of the publisher's PlayStation3 titles: Mobile Suit Gundam and Ridge Racer 7. In his comments, Unozawa-san said that instead of selling 500,000 units each by March 2007, Namco Bandai now expects over one million copies of the games to be sold.

"The price cut by Sony should give users extra cash to buy more software,'' stated Unozawa-san.

The aftershocks of today's price slash seem to be making waves already...

We'll have more news shortly.
