Short sleeved suits and bad hair cuts heading to the Playstation2, Xbox and PC courtesy of Davilex...

In our opinion ‘GTA: Vice City’ just about hit the nail on the head for 80’s Cop Shows, however that’s not stopping Davilex from trying to cash in, with the announcement of a new game based on the license that surely provided the inspiration behind ‘Vice City’.

Miami Vice was without doubt one of the biggest TV shows during the 80s, focussing on the hard-hitting duo of Crockett and Tubbs, as they cleaned up Miami in their rather bright short-sleeved suits and accompanying mullets – ahhh how we miss them.

Although specific details are unknown at present, we’ve learnt that UK developer, Atomic Planet Entertainment, has been enlisted to bring the franchise to the Playstation2, Xbox and PC.

It’s too early to tell, however we suspect that the developers will use ‘Vice City’ success as inspiration; as such we’re promised a third-person action title with free-roaming exploration alongside numerous encounters and missions.

"We are thrilled to have acquired the Miami Vice license and to have signed a solid development partner like Atomic Planet Entertainment" says CEO, Rogier Avis. "Making a game based on Miami Vice has been talked about a lot and I am proud Davilex will be publishing this highly anticipated title."

"We are really excited to be working on Miami Vice and with Davilex" says APE Development Director, Jason Falcus. "Davilex have acquired a fantastic license, and share our vision of creating a top quality game, which does it justice. We are very pleased to be working with them on what we hope will be a long term development partnership."
