Nintendo announces strong sales of Metroid Prime, Metroid Fusion and Resident Evil 0 across the pond.

Nintendo today announced that it has shifted an impressive 250,000 copies of Metroid Prime during its first week of release in the US. Along with the announcement, Nintendo claimed strong sales for Resident Evil 0, and that the duo of titles has pushed the GameCube into second place, past the Xbox, during the Thanksgiving period.<br><br>“While Nintendo retains its legacy as the destination of choice for family gamers, we’re also making substantial inroads with more mature players,” says Peter MacDougall, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Nintendo of America Inc. “Both of these games are selling through at rates well beyond any game launched this year for Microsoft Xbox, which is skewed almost exclusively at older players.”<br><br>Nintendo were also keen to announce that the return of Samus Aran in the GameBoy Advance title, Metroid Fusion, has shifted over 100,000 copies during the same period, we’ll have an update as to how well she’s performed in Europe soon.<br>
