Metal Gear Solid 4 - 1080p A Must News

Comic-con 2006 has brought a bounty of videogaming news for the geeks at San Diego; from a demonstration of the technology behind future Star Wars titles, a glimpse of Spider-Man 3 to the revealing of further details on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot.

Speaking at the conference, Hideo Kojima claimed that the forthcoming PlayStation3 title is only made possible by the extra storage capacity of the Blu-ray disc. Kojima-san also claimed that Sony Computer Entertainment are insisting that the title runs in 1080p, something that very few titles managed at E3'06 and a necessity if Sony are to push their next-generation format as superior to any other in the visual stakes.

Delivering the news that everybody wants to hear, Kojima-san further suggested that the title will be playable at E3'07 and that the team creating the title is the largest ever to have worked on a Metal Gear Solid title.

Finally in light of Sony's last minute attempt to add motion-sensitive control to the PlayStation3 pad, Kojima-san claims that he is as-of-yet undecided whether or not to use the feature - but given his penchant for novel little touches we wouldn't be too surprised to see the game making use of the technology somehow.
