Having originally been scheduled to go live today, Konami has delayed the MGO beta until an unspecified date...
Konami has announced on its European website that the Metal Gear Online beta has been delayed until an unspecified date. Although it was originally scheduled to go live today, the beta has been postponed in Europe due to "extraordinary levels of traffic from all around the globe".
This demand for the beta has meant that Konami hasn't been able to run the service at the level it was aiming for. Although there is no specified restart date for the beta, Konami will be making another announcement concerning this on its European site tomorrow morning.
"As a temporary measure, we will be suspending the European public beta test and restart it once we stabilize our server," commented Konami in its delay notice. "We would like to apologize for all inconveniences as well as confusion caused."
Konami has extended the closing date of its European MGO beta by five days in order to account for this delay. Although the beta was originally scheduled to close on May 6th, it will now continue until May 11th.

As much as I'd like to play this on the Xbox 360 I won't put too much trust in these until I see an official announcement. Even still, judging by what he said in the article, they could simply put it on the PC.
People that are saying he would not put it on the Xbox should realize that Metal Gear Solid 2 was on the Xbox. I wouldn't rule it out completely. Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 were both on the PC however.
