When acclaimed music composer Harry Gregson-Williams quipped â??I would work on the next one if it were to take place in the jungleâ? having finished the soundtrack for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, little did he realise that just that concept was circling around in the creative mind of Hideo Kojima.
Set in 1964, during a period which saw the height of the Cold-War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the assassination of President Kennedy and the Vietnam War â?“ quite some scope for which to set the latest Metal Gear Solid title Iâ??m sure youâ??ll agree.
Well now weâ??ve finally got our hands on the first playable version, allowing gamers to take Snake through the dense jungle locations to rescue a man named Sokolov hidden deep within enemy locations.
Despite the huge jump in time period, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater plays exactly as youâ??d expect, although the lack of a radar certainly changes the dynamics around significantly, resulting in more emphasis on your own senses and the oh-so-handy Camouflage Index. Whilst the demo didnâ??t give much scope for checking out the Camouflage system in great detail, itâ??s fair to say that MGS3 requires a more stealth-based approach then ever before.
However Snake doesnâ??t just have to use the environment as his only means of survival (although hanging from trees is extremely cool), as he has access to a variety of gadgets and weapons through the familiar inventory screen; the demo revealed NightVision, Thermal Goggles, Motion Detectors, Shotguns, M16 Rifles and a Sniper Rifle - although naturally they all looked significantly older then what you typically expect from a MGS title.
Sadly the demo revealed precious little in terms of new details; one particular notable appearance was that of a big-fat Cuban cigar replacing Snakes typical brand of cigarettes, whilst it was hard to tell from the demo whether the Snake features is the same from previous titles or the Big Boss as we previously speculated â?“ it should be noted however that he certainly looks different to previous versions.
MGS3 is certainly shaping up to be more of a â??videogameâ?? then MGS2 ever was which should be enough to please everybody out there.
Sadly the demo only concluded that the game is heading in the correct direction, but revealed precious few new details or interesting plot directions â?“ perhaps a valid reason after the wannabe-movie feeling left from Sons of Liberty.
Weâ??ll have more soon.

Kurt Russel would make an AWESOME solid snake, it's such a shame he's..you know old. But he could make an awesome big boss, if not solid snake. <3

Wow some people dont have a clue look im not going to pretend i know more than others but for instance
yes they are twins but there not identical "nub". And did you just say daniel day lewis errr yeah right the actor will be a joint choice between directors and kojima who is working on the project VERY closley and that is straight from the horses mouth youll find the interview if you google it a bit.
CAMO tip if you on about mgs3 snake eater you use the correct collour with your surroundings to CAMO up better inproving invis and visiual range
i suggest you all start at mgs on the NES and play they all the way up to MGS4 and do all the exta vr's misshions and watch and read all the extras in every generation from the ps1 upwards then youll understand the snake a bit better and see why you cant just pick a person for this roal but who better than bail name someone i dear ya

Firstly, there MUST be a single actor playing both Snake & Liquid, they are twins afterall! If any actor has enough talent to incorporate 2 roles then there is no one better than Christian Bale. As for the supporting cast, Daniel Day-Lewis would be an amazing Ocelot & I think Eva Green would be an ideal choice as Meryl.

David Hayter needs to exercise and grow some hair on his head and chin to be solid snake. Plus I think he's perfect for it. But iuno about christian bale as the snake...he's a better liquid than solid

Oh and btw, you people need to stop jumping on one guy. Im sure there are about 20 other actors out there who could play snake. Jumping on one guy and saying anyone else would be horrible is just plain stupid.

Hugh Jackman is not nearly as good an actor as Christian Bale. Plus he stars in to many cornball action movies. Bale is the greatest actor of our generation. If he stars in this movie it is bound to be incredible.
