EA Games confirms the development of a multiplayer game based on Pandemic's Mercenaries brand...
Following the appearance of a leaked video earlier in the week EA today announced the development of Mercs Inc, a multiplayer title set in the Mercenaries franchise created by the now defunct Pandemic Studios.
Describing the game as being in the early stage of development at EALA suggests that the publisher was rushed into the announcement following the leak, and as a result there's probably more details to be discovered from the trailer (embedded below) then the actual press release.
"We are very excited to announce a new instalment in the popular Mercenaries series because it demonstrates our continued commitment to Pandemic's rich catalogue of intellectual properties," said Nick Earl, Senior VP and Group General Manager at EA. "From the studio at EALA, a core creative team is forging new ground and conceptualizing new ideas for this exciting franchise."
Let's just hope it turns out better then the atrocious Mercenaries 2.

Looks pretty bland. Hopefully that video is based on an old game engine or something - or perhaps EA is bringing it to the PS2!
