Capcom themed level-creation game canned in wake of Inafune’s departure...

Mega Man Universe has been cancelled by Capcom. The 2.5D platformer - which took its visual and gameplay cues from Mega Man 2 - was set to allow players to create and upload their own levels using a range of tools and Capcom-themed items. Along with Mega Man, other classic Capcom characters such as Ryu and Arthur from Ghouls ‘n’ Ghosts were planned for inclusion in the game.

The cancellation was announced on the game’s Japanese website (translated by NeoGaf), although no specific reason was given by Capcom. Mega Man creator and Universe Lead Designer Keiji Inafune left Capcom last year to found his own company.
