ME3 details emerge - expanded skill trees, weapon mods and more...
Bioware has revealed that there will be no multiplayer in Mass Effect 3.
According to details in the latest issue of Game Informer (via NeoGaf), multiplayer will be considered for future spin-offs linked to the series, as previous rumours have suggested.
Saves from Mass Effect 2 can be imported into the new game, with previous choices rippling through into the continuation of the story. A range of good and bad endings are available, and decisions made in earlier games will influence the outcomes possible in the new chapter; a prologue comic will be included with the game so that new players can make key decisions from the previous games if they don’t have save data to import.
Liara, Ashley, and Kaiden will return as squad members in the new game. Garrus, Wrex, Mordin, Legion and Anderson are also confirmed (although their appearance presumably depends on whether they survived your previous play-through). A new squad member - James Sanders - can also join your team.
The game begins with Shephard on trial for his actions in the recent Mass Effect Arrival DLC; unfortunately, the Reapers disrupt proceedings by invading Earth mid-way through the hearing. Cue a frantic escape to Normandy and a quest to regroup the old team and fight off the Reapers.
Weapon customisation has been extended for Mass Effect 3, and skill trees have been expanded, with powers evolving several times instead of just once.
Mass Effect 3 is due for release towards the end of the year.
