Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Looks Official [UPDATE] News

A leaked YouTube vid and some juicy game details have near enough confirmed that Marvel vs Capcom 3 is in development. What's more, if initial rumours are to be believed, then the game will be a disc based HD release running at 1080p.

These details come from PlanetXbox360, which claims that Capcom is sticking to the 2D fighting formula for MvC3 and points to Spider-Man, Wolverine, The Hulk, Storm, and Magneto as returning characters for the series.

All of this has apparently come from Capcom's 'Captivate' press event in Hawaii, the embargo for which was supposed to drop later today, so presumably we'll know soon enough whether the rumours are accurate. Judging by the leaked vid below though, we'd strongly suggest that they are.

Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2 has also been name dropped from the event, although there are no details on it at this stage. Just from the title, it sounds like a direct sequel to the 2008 Bionic Commando remake for XBLA, PSN, and PC, but we'll have to wait and see on that one.

Getting back to MvC3, this apparent confirmation follows a trail of rumours from the same people who accurately revealed Super Street Fighter IV's character list months before the official announcement. We recently had the opportunity to ask Yoshinori Ono, the Producer on Super Street Fighter IV, about the possibility of Marvel vs Capcom 3 and here's what he told us:

"I've already seen the rumours but unfortunately I don't have any of the documents," said Ono-san. "So if it is in existence it must be in secret somewhere."

Update: A trailer has now been leaked over YouTube for Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2 and, as suspected, it's for PSN and XBox Live.
