Cryptic Recruit John Layman's Writing Skills News

The specialist comic and computer games writer will contribute to Marvel Universe Online...

Californian specialist MMO developers Cryptic Studios revealed yesterday that they have retained the services of comic and computer game writing specialist John Layman. Layman will take on the role of Design Writer and he will be contributing to Cryptic's upcoming Marvel Universe Online for the PC and Xbox 360.

Layman, who joined Cryptic at their Los Gatos headquarters on June 25th, has 12 years of writing experience in the comics industry. His track record Includes work on Marvel series' Gambit, House of M: Fantastic Four and Marvel Zombies Vs. Army of Darkness. He has also been published under creator owned titles including Puffed (Image) and Armageddon (Son for Oni Press).

His games writing resume includes credits for the Nintendo DS' Metroid: Hunters and Marvel Trading Card Game for the PSP.

Unfortunately they've decided to move away from the PC on this one. I suspect they'll lose a huge fan base just from that move alone.

I loved City of heroes but it needed more indepth missions/quests. The charactor creation was awsome, no one looked the same!! I hope Cryptic Studios works hard on the missions/quests this time around and a more indepth skills and power picking would be great.
