Based around Upper Deck's 'Vs System' and featuring support for the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection...

Konami today announced Marvel Trading Card Game for the Nintendo DS, PSP and PC. Based upon the trading card game from Upper Deck, Marvel Trading Card Game allows players to collect over 800 cards featuring Marvel characters, and then compete in cross-platform online play.

Compiling a deck and competing in different challenges to earn further cards, the game features characters from Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, The Avengers, Fantastic Four and many more.

Using Upper Deck's 'Vs System' to govern the gameplay the game features a single-player campaign that allows players to choose between good and evil, along with the path through the comic-book presented storyline. The bulk of the game, however, lies in the multiplayer modes, which is built upon a sophisticated online network that allows players to compete across a variety of modes, engage in tournaments, trade cards with other players and purchase them from an online store.

Supporting the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, the game will also allow players of the PSP and PC versions to engage in cross-platform play. Regular tournaments will also be hosted, allowing owners of any version to compete for valuable prizes.

"Bringing the head-to-head trading card game experience to handheld gaming systems and to PC, Marvel Trading Card Game lets players take part in strategic, fast paced battles with their favourite Marvel characters," said Christopher Heck, European Brand Manager at Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. "Boasting breakthrough cross-platform online functionality, the game captures the social element of the trading card game and lets players stay connected to the game and its virtual community no matter where they may be."

Marvel Trading Card Game is scheduled for release on PSP, Nintendo DS and PC during the first half of 2007; look out for more on the title soon.
