Has the original Xbox tech-demo finally been laid to rest...
Argonaut earlier announced a depressing set of cancellations for a number of its forthcoming titles.

The major announcement regards the cancellation of publishing duties from Vivendi Universal on the Xbox and PS2 adventure Malice.

Xbox fans will fondly remember the title as it was used to demonstrate the format’s strengths before it’s release. At the time the game was under the publishing duties of Microsoft Game Studios, however numerous delays weakened their interest and soon the game fell under the hand of Vivendi Universal who confirmed a Playstation2 version was also in the works.

We originally heard whispers from last year that Malice wouldn’t make it; the most preposterous of which suggests Argonaut are holding off and taking it to the Xbox 2! However the news today makes it look very unlikely that the game will ever see the light of day, Argonaut have been given the option to look for another publisher however at this stage of the day we’d say that’s looking very unlikely.

Further reports have claimed that Argonaut have also canned Orchid, it’s cell-shaded third-person action/adventure, originally scheduled to be published by NAMCO. Whilst we only saw a little on the title, it’s fair to say that the lack of innovation was a stumbling block; in fact it’s believed Argonaut wanted to change the formula substantially but that NAMCO wouldn’t fit the extra bill.

Rather disappointingly it’s been claimed that Argonaut or Microsoft Game Studios haven’t commissioned Just Add Monsters to develop a sequel to the enjoyable ‘Kung-Fu Chaos’, after the game failed to meet its sales expectations – what’s up people, this game is definitely worth your attention…

We’ll have more news on the situation as it develops…
