Codemasters Announces Maelstrom News

Codemasters has today announced the development of a sci-fi strategy title called Maelstrom, which is currently in production at Russian based studio KDV. Taking place on a devastated Earth of the future, Maelstrom follows the story of three factions as they vie for control of the planet.

Led by former US military General James Buchanan, The Remnants are described as low-tech resistance dependant on guerrilla tactics and strength in numbers. The Ascension led by industrialist Arlan Khan are a group of future-tech specialists although mystery surrounds where they got their advanced technologies from. Finally Aliens have landed on Earth in an attempt to gain control of the planet; said to be masters to bio-engineering the hordes of extra-terrestrials can vary in size dramatically.

Maelstrom has been pencilled in for a third quarter 2006 release on PC; weâ??ll have more on the game shortlyâ?¦
