New addition to the EA TRAX music initiative, allowing gamers to rediscover some of the best music from the 80s and early 90s…

EA today announced an agreement with Rhino Records to become the exclusive provider of catalogue music for EA Sports titles; entitles â??Throwback Traxâ??, this is the latest feature in the EA TRAX music initiative, which was originally intended to break new artists in the games.

Throwback Trax enhances this initiative by allowing gamers to discover and rediscover some of the best music from the 80s and early 90s, offering such artists as House of Pain, Pantera, MC Lyte, Faith No More, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Cure and Violent Femmes amongst many others.

For those that might have missed out on previous announcements, EA TRAX began in 2002 and forms a partnership between EA and music labels, who want to try and break new acts through EAâ??s popular videogames. Represented as an in-game jukebox that showcases new songs from established acts and breaks new artists, some of the bands that debuted their music in 2003 EA titles include Blink 182, Chingy and Australian rockers Jet.

The first two songs from Throwback Trax will feature in Madden NFL 2005, whilst the feature will also be evident in NBA Live 2005, FIFA Soccer 2005, NASCAR 2005: Chase for the Cup, EA Sports Rugby 2005, and NHL 2005.
