The National Football League and its players sign separate agreements to extend EA Sports' agreement into the next decade...
EA Sports has today signed an agreement to extend its licence to use the NFL brand and NFL players roster for future titles through to the end of the 2012 season, which concludes in February 2013.
The deal covers all platforms, including handheld and PC, and is made as the Madden NFL brand celebrates its 20th year.
"This is all about bringing authenticity and realism to NFL videogames," said Eric Grubman, President of NFL Ventures. "EA SPORTS continually works to maintain the cutting edge for NFL products across a variety of gaming platforms. We like the fact that they never rest."
"This is great news and it means we can continue to produce the best interactive experience possible. It also allows NFL PLAYERS, the NFL and EA to continue to build our brands," said Gene Upshaw, Chairman of NFL PLAYERS and Executive Director of the National Football League Players Association. "We offer a very unique experience. "
"We are excited about the opportunity to extend and expand our relationships with the NFL and NFL PLAYERS," said Peter Moore, President of EA SPORTS(tm). "For nearly two decades, EA SPORTS has been bringing sports fans closer to the great game of football through the breakthrough interactive experiences of our videogames. Game quality is our top priority, and we're committed to pushing our gameplay innovation, connecting football fans via rich online experiences and delivering the most visually stunning sports games on the market."

Well this blows. I was looking forward to 2k games getting another crack at NFL games. They were always better. I have had several problem with Madden 08. My third franchise season I had to start all over (this is what tech support told me to do) so the game would actually play and not freeze up. This monopoly needs to be broken so that EA will step up and start making finished and quality games and perhaps so that we can have some variety in NFL games.

Mate, it's a reference to the well known 90s dance track Sounds of the Wickedness by Tzant. I thought I'd try and bring some popular culture to the proceedings, okay?
