Capcom announces that a Lost Planet 2 multiplayer co-op demo will launch on Xbox Live next week...

We've received word from Capcom this morning that it's planning to launch a multiplayer co-op demo for Lost Planet 2 on Xbox Live next week. Gold members will be able to download the demo on August 19th, while Silver subscribers will have to wait until August 26th.

Gamers will be facing up against "the enormous G-Type Salamander Akrid boss" in the demo, which caters for up to 4 players via Lost Planet 2's new multiplayer co-op mode. There are apparently multiple ways to kill the boss, from slicing off its legs to being swallowed by the beast and taking it out internally.

Weapons on hand for the offensive will include both beam and projectile weapons, while the Vital Suit robotic combat units that the series is known for will be available too. Co-op features such as the ability to share thermal energy between players will also feature in the demo.

This boss battle is but one small part of Lost Planet 2's six interconnected episodes, which apparently create "a truly unique interactive experience that changes depending upon the actions of the players involved."

Although still set on E.D.N.III, this sequel will look a lot different from the inhospitable ice world of the first game. In the decade that has past between both titles (fictionally speaking), terraforming efforts have transformed much of the planet's surface into jungles and deserts.

Snow pirates - err, I mean - jungle pirates, ahoy!

yeah only a timed exclusive so that means a ps3 version is in development so expect the ps3 version to have lots of extras in it plus much better graphics,

just remember 360 fans what happened to bio shock (different developer but was a 360 timed exclusive)

lol ive got a 360 and all these mistakes m$ are making will just push developers away from making dlc for xbox and making it less likly m$ will do another gta exclusive dlc pack or at least secure a deal with EA,Rockstar ect.

m$ is using typical american muscle where as sony are using an evo x (basicly the V8 has got to its top speed but is running out of juice where as the evo x is catching up fast and has plenty of juice left to go for miles more) remember the ps3 has only been out for just over 2 years and its only 8 million units behind the 360 which is over 3 years old now.

lost plannet 2 will look awsome on the ps3 i doubt the 360 has what it takes to do the same.

Just seen the Lost Planet 2 unveil trailer, and it was introduced by Jun Takeuchi - who said he was proud that the trailer was being released on Xbox Live Marketplace.

So it was an exclusive reveal for Xbox 360, and not a 'cheap tricks' campaign by MS. Don't worry though, it's going to be released on PS3 when it does arrive.

So this is the second time Xbox has incorrectly posted something on LIVE.  The first time was a DLC for Burnout Paradise and now this.

Either they are really being irresponsible, or they are knowingly blurting things on LIVE to try to derail or hur the PS3.

Cheap tricks Microsoft.
