Playdead Studios and Sony confirm a July release for Limbo over the PlayStation Network...

2010 indie super-hit, Limbo will come to additional platforms after a year of exclusivity on Xbox Live Arcade, the game's developer has revealed.

Playdead Studios' CEO, Dino Patti confirmed the news over Twitter, saying, "LIMBO is coming for PSN and Steam... Soon."

Sony also tweeted the news through its official PlayStation feed while pointing towards a July release: "Playdead founder confirms that their masterpiece LIMBO is heading to PSN in July. More details next week!"

Whether or not a July release is earmarked for the Steam version remains unclear, although it appears likely that Limbo will launch across both of its new platforms simultaneously.

Speculation that Limbo might be set to break its XBLA exclusivity first arose when a registry code for a Limbo trailer was found on Steam at the start of last month, before a classification on the Korean Ratings Board all but fully outed the a PS3 version earlier this week.

Limbo was our favourite digi-download title of last year, and won a solid 9/10 in our review despite the game's short length. If ever a game summed-up the phrase 'good things come in small packages', then it's Limbo.

Playdead Studios revealed last October that its developing a new intellectual property. "I can't tell much, but I can tell you that if you liked Limbo, it'll definitely be for you," said Dino Patti at the time.

@Post 3: It's only on the Korean Ratings Board right now, so nowhere near confirmed. Fingers crossed though...

Limbo was my digi-download game of the year for 2010. It was a close run thing with Super Meat Boy, but I think Limbo just pips it for style, aesthetics, and the superb puzzles.
