Digital download Tomb Raider coming in 2010, but it's not titled Tomb Raider...
Amidst longstanding rumours of a significant reboot, Square-Enix Europe today announced that Lara Croft will be returning in an all-new adventure, but not quite in the way we'd originally imagined.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is currently in development at Crystal Dynamics and will appear exclusively via digital download in 2010, although the publisher has refused to reveal on what platforms this will specifically appear.
Beyond the fact that it's obviously dropped the Tomb Raider moniker, that's about all we know at this stage. Whether or not this is linked to the rumoured survival/horror design that emerged last year with initial concept art isn't yet known, but presumably the removal of the brand will open up new opportunities for the adventure.

i agree that i don't particularly want it to be a horror
i would love the adventure and a mysterious island like an island from japan well it's meant to be anyway but the creatures don't scare me but they do look like something out of silent hill the ring and the grudge but am excited about what the story and action will be like
not that keen on lara croft and the guardian of light the graphics are good but i liked the close rand of tomb raider not the far range of it.

Interesting but i lost interest on the last one, it didn't really stand out plus a load of bugs plagued the previous installments, altho i will hold furthur judgement until the final product, let's see if croft can return or let drake rule the roost forever! ;)

honestly, this sounds good but if it has more gore than strategy and adventure than the makers have ruined the best series of games i have ever played and i won't get anymore that come out unless they are as classic as the original ones.

I dunno, please do not make Tomb Raider a survival horror game now! It's all about the adventure, not the horror! There needs to be a LOT more info in the near future to change my mind about this game.

I think this is a BIG mistake... Tomb Raider has ALWAYS been an adventurous, T-rated, gunsplay game, NOT a scary, M-rated, gory, survival game... It's SUCH a disappiontment to see Tomb Raider go down the drain.=(
I have no intention of starting an argument, I'm just stating my TRUE feelings towards this game... I know it's not confirmed yet, but Tomb Raider has NEVER become THIS brutal.
