Rumble-enabled SIXAXIS with improved motion sensitivity to be the future...
According to an anonymous post on innerbits.com, a blog where "games developers speak out", the PS3's SIXAXIS controller is to go through some radical changes in the coming months. This will include the long speculated rumble-enabled SIXAXIS, as well as new versions of the SIXAXIS with improved motion sensitivity which will be "quietly replacing the original controllers launched with the console".
The post states that prototypes of rumble-enabled SIXAXIS' have been sent to various Sony developers. It speculates that an official announcement of the new controllers will be made in the next two or three months, possibly even during the Leipzig Game Convention at the end of August.
As far as the improved motion sensitivity is concerned, the post's author comments that: "Sony has improved the fidelity of motion sensing in the controller. The original controllers apparently suffered of too much of a dead zone."
This follows Sony's agreement to pay the Immersion Corporation over $100 million for the right to continue selling their DualShock controllers and pave the way to add rumble technology to their SIXAXIS controllers on the PS3.

The X-Wing games were VERY different from the Rogue Squadron games.

Bad reviews (Like 5 out of 10 style) caused a panic and made for the push back on the release. The game still won't do very well. It is made by the same people who made the Rogue Squadron X-Wing games, and people are already seeing that this is just another X-wing game but instead you're piloting a dragon. It's not going to be a very good game no matter what they change on it at this point. Kinda makes you wonder why PS3 fans won't shut up about how great it's going to be.

Past testing says this could be a good push back to avoid later user issues that could kill sales. A few bad reviews might make this a rent first, but after a few days of real play time new and current reviews could say that this game rocks. It sure looks great and sounds just as solid. I'd say worth a look. To rent or buy though...the first week of sales will tell.
