David Braben demolishes speculation of a link between Kinectimals and Lionhead's Milo and Kate project...
Earlier this week, a quote attributed to Microsoft Game Studios' Vice-President, Phil Spencer appeared to indicate that there was a link between Frontier Development's Kinectimals and the technology in Lionhead's Milo and Kate project. Not so, says Frontier's Chairman, David Braben:
"I'd like to address some stories that are currently circulating, that Kinectimals from Frontier is somehow related to Milo and Kate from Lionhead," Braben told OXM.
"Kinectimals has been in development since before we saw Milo," he continued. "It is built using Frontier's own technology shared with other Frontier games in development, and ideas evolved from earlier games like Dog's Life. There has not been any involvement in the technology or design by Lionhead. Milo and Kate is a completely separate (and intriguing) development from Lionhead."
We're just glad this whole miscommunication between Microsoft US and its British studios has been straightened out (Peter Molyneux strolled out on his Fable steed and did much of the straightening yesterday). Somebody needs to tell Greenberg and Spencer et al. to read their memos.
