SCEE confirm plans to acquire acclaimed developers behind Killzone and Shellshock: Nam’67…

Having wowed Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) with the forthcoming Killzone, SCEE today announced that it has snapped up Guerrilla Games to develop titles exclusively for SCEE and Sony platforms from now on.

The announcement bears no impact on the current agreement between Guerrilla and Eidos, which will see the release of Shellshock: Namâ??67 in June, however thatâ??s likely to be the first and last time youâ??ll see a Guerrilla title on Xbox or PC. TVG was lucky enough to get the opportunity to speak with Guerrilla on Shellshock: Namâ??67; please click here to read the exclusive interview.

Under the terms of the agreement Guerrilla will not only continue to work on Killzone for the Playstation2, but also apply their expertise to begin development on several new titles for the PSP and Playstation3.

Phil Harrison, Executive Vice President, Development, commented on the deal â??This strategic alliance with one of Europeâ??s hottest new creative and technical talents shows our determination to only work with the best, whether they are our in-house or not.â?

He continued â??Killzone not only is a very important title for us but is also a great example of what can be done when a publisher and a developer partner closely together on a project. The results shout for themselves and I am delighted that our production and creative teams can work even more closely with Guerrilla going forward.â?

Hermen Hulst, Managing Director of Guerrilla said of the agreement "We have enjoyed an excellent working relationship with SCEE throughout the development of Killzone and are extremely pleased to be extending this partnership. We are looking forward to working exclusively with SCEE, applying our talent and technology to new platforms in order to establish Guerrilla as one of the finest development studios in Europe.

Weâ??ll have more information soon.

Why does everyone rage about this game? I didn't find it all that fun... maybe it's just not for me. I don't suggest it to players though. :/
