Eidos confirms that the open-world title is also being developed for Microsoft's next-gen console...

Eidos has today confirmed the development of Just Cause for Xbox 360, which along with the already announced Xbox, PlayStation2, and PC versions, will be released in Autumn 2006. Set in a South American island chain known as San Esperito, players take control of an undercover agent sent on a mission to overthrow the corrupt government of the archipelago.

The scope of the gameworld is certainly being described by Eidos as massive with over 300 missions set across the islands (which take 40 minutes to cross end to end), although it'll be interesting to see the end product - after all there have been others who've tried to replicate that magical GTA formula for themselves.

Announced way back in 2004, and touted for a 2005 release, Just Cause is currently being developed by Avalanche Studios, which is not to be confused with Avalanche Software, who were rather confusingly the developers of another Eidos title, 25 To Life.

Christofer Sundberg, Founder and Creative Director of Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios said, "We are proud that Just Cause will be available on Xbox 360 as well as current generation platforms. Our aim has always been to deliver a next-gen experience and with the power of Xbox 360 you are going to see something really special."

We'll have more on Just Cause shortly...

I want my money back, never have I played a game where the cut scenes jump about, and you miss what they say, no wonder they added subtitles.
