THQ announce exclusive deal to publish Rare's GameBoy Advance titles...

THQ today announced exclusive global distribution rights to publish titles from Microsoft’s Rare game studio on the GameBoy Advance.

With a number of titles in development, the future of which had been left in doubt after Microsoft’s acquisition from Nintendo, it’s good to see that these will finally see the light of day – presumably in the hope of making a bigger return then their current Xbox titles.

The agreement will give THQ rights to a number of titles, both known and some new to us. ‘Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty’s Revenge’ is the first to be released in Autumn 2003 and is based on the popular N64 title; this will be followed by ‘Banjo Pilot’, ‘It’s Mr. Pants’ and ‘Sabre Wulf’.

Certainly we’re excited by the prospect of a Mr. Pants title, for those that don’t know Mr. Pants is the creation of the truly unique minds working at Rare. Originally created in the UK developers ‘Scribes’ section, the psuedo-mascot came into fame in the infamous ‘Rare Christmas Card’ that prompted the rumours about Rare moving into multi-platform development.

We’ll hopefully have more details on these titles soon…
