Ubisoft's disaster survival game, I Am Alive suffers yet another setback as the publisher moves the title beyond its 2010/11 fiscal year...
Ubisoft's disaster survival title, I Am Alive has had a torrid time in development. Following initial delays, Ubisoft announced last March that development of the game had been moved from its original studio Darkworks over to Ubisoft Shanghai, and now it seems that the title won't arrive until April 2011 at the earliest.
"On I Am Alive we have been totally rearranging the product, so it's still on the way to use Splinter Cell engine and we have amortised all the costs that were incurred with the previous developer," said Ubisoft's CEO, Yves Guillemot in a post-financial report conference call. "So everything we do is fresh now and we think it can become a very good quality product, but it's not going to come this financial year."
This means that I Am Alive won't be arriving before March 31st 2011. Whether it's scheduled to arrive in the subsequent financial year (between April 1st 2011 and March 31st 2012) remains unclear. We can't help but acknowledge the irony of the game's development turning into something of a disaster for Ubisoft.

This doesn't bode particularly well - can anyone tell me the last game which switched developers mid-way through that didn't turn out fairly poor?
I also like the way they call it a 'mutual decision'. Yeah, like Darkworks were really complicit in this decision...
