Ubisoft announces a broad fiscal release period for the first-person action title...

During a quarterly sales report, Ubisoft has revealed that it has pushed the release of 'I Am Alive' into the 2009/10 fiscal year, which begins in April.  News of the delay comes just a few days after Ubisoft added the title to the current fiscal release schedule, which ends on March 31st.

The first-person action title, which has remained behind the curtains since the publisher first revealed the game with a CGI trailer last year, is currently in development at Darkworks.  The French studio previously worked with Ubisoft on the 2005 survival-horror, Cold Fear.  Ubisoft Montreal is working on a port of I Am Alive for the PC.

So, why the delay?

Ubisoft's report bluntly states that I Am Alive “will require more development time”;  the publisher certainly isn't pulling punches there.

This doesn't bode particularly well - can anyone tell me the last game which switched developers mid-way through that didn't turn out fairly poor?

I also like the way they call it a 'mutual decision'.  Yeah, like Darkworks were really complicit in this decision...
