Uncertain future for Homefront studio despite record THQ pre-orders...

THQ has announced that pre-orders of its forthcoming near-future FPS Homefront have reached over 200,000 in the US alone - breaking previous records for a THQ title. The game - developed by Frontlines: Fuel of War creator Kaos Studios - has now gone Gold in time for its release on March 18th.

However, despite the strong pre-sales figures, THQ’s Senior VP of Core Studios Dave Davis revealed that future titles in the series will be developed in “collaboration” between New York developer Kaos Studios and THQ’s new Montreal Offices.

"Manhattan is an incredibly expensive place,” Davis noted during a roundtable at GDC (via Joystiq).

"When finishing Homefront, we had about 10-11 people who helped shipped the original Homefront. And that was talent that we got from Montreal that we couldn't get anywhere else," he explained.

"We're trying to do the best thing for the product and the best thing for the studio, and going forward there will definitely be collaboration."

The comments follow concerns raised by a Kaos Studios employee (via Develop) that jobs might be lost following Homefront’s release. THQ reportedly asked many at the studio to work minimum ten-hour days for six months to complete the project.

THQ's official advice is to report your problem on the official Homefront community forums. The problem you're experiencing does appear to be relatively widespread. We ran an article about it a couple of weeks back.

Hopefully a patch will arrive soon to remedy the issue as I'm sure Kaos Studios is aware of the problem you're describing. There have been recurring reports on the Homefront boards of the same bug since the first patch for the game was released shortly after launch.

This is probably on par with the first "Conflict" title games that i played on the PS2. Its shocking to think that they can produce something so lame and ask £40 for it. The 7 levels are a joke, the graphics are crap and the AI is terrible. Let me just say...Normal difficulty...died 3 times and it took me just short of 3 hours. Its safe to say THQ are going to have to bring something awsome out for me to buy anything of theirs again. I mean...have they not seen COD or BATTLEFIELD??

@Post 11: There are harder difficulty settings, but you need to go into options from the main menu to find them.
