Leaked poster designs for IO's Hitman series point towards a 2011 release for the next instalment...

According to some leaked poster concepts that have been splurged all over the net, the next Hitman game might be slated to land sometime next year.

The poster designs shown were posted on the website of a design company called Great Graphics but appear to have now been pulled. Thankfully, NeoGAF was on the case to rip them before they were taken down.

Square Enix Europe (what's now effectively Eidos) and Hitman developer, IO Interactive haven't officially acknowledged the development of a fifth Hitman game to-date, although a report from last year did suggest that Hitman 5 was being developed alongside a Hitman movie sequel and was scheduled for release towards the end of 2010.

Although a release this year now seems unlikely, these poster concepts do at least appear to suggest that Hitman 5 lives. More as we get it...

Update: NeoGAF's thread has now been updated with the following quote from IO Interactive spokesperson, Tom Stratton.

“Unfortunately, the concept art was created as part of a portfolio. [It was] intended to showcase an artist’s style or method of work and does not represent any new Hitman game,” reads the statement.

Bummer. Still, we're hopeful that something Hitman related is in the mix over at IO regardless of all this phantom showcasing that's goinhg on.

A futuristic Hitman could be great, with some missions taking place in cyberspace.

Beating a trojan with a Norton gun, slicing the throat of a Worm with the K of Kaspersky, pure sequel.

Hitman 5 will happen soon. I read between the lines in that spokesperson's statement as "the concept art does not officially represent the new Hitman game that we are working on."
