Hidden and Dangerous

With many people having played, possibly even completing Eidos’ incredibly difficult Commandos, your greatest desire is probably to have seen what the game would be like in a proper 3D environment. If this applies to you, your prayers may well have been answered, Hidden and Dangerous is just this.
Set in the Second World War, the players’ task is to guide a hand picked team of specialist soldiers through a number of missions, before eventually achieving your main goal. I say eventually, because another trait Hidden and Dangerous has inherited from the accomplished Commandos is the level of difficulty. Coupled with this is the lack of a training option which results in the player being thrown into intense combat straight from the off. For a game this tough, it would usually be a necessity, but these thoughts are soon dispelled as you settle into one the most atmospheric and enjoyable experiences your PC can offer.
A major improvement on Commandos comes in the form of an exceptional tactics and weapons selection screen. This gives the player an option to experiment with various different combinations in order to complete the mission.
Graphically, the game is similar to another team-based combat game, namely Rainbow Six. While this may disappoint some of you, it does not appear to be a problem here. Rain falls realistically, the characters show an impressive level of detail and the whole environment runs so incredibly smoothly. The graphics engine used performs its job more than adequately, allowing the player to roam freely around the landscape.
The icing on the cake comes in the form of the musical score, which is one to rival that of any other game of its genre.
Ultimately if you manage to get past the games severe difficulty you will uncover a real gem of a game. A true Classic.
