Sony announces a collector's edition for Heavy Rain and two instalments of DLC for the highly anticipated title...
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced a collector's edition and confirmed two portions of DLC for one of the most highly anticipated games of next year, Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain.
While the DLC, or "Heavy Rain Chronicles", will be released after the game's launch next year (with Sony confirming two separate Chronicles at this stage), gamers will be able to get hold of the first Chronicle early by purchasing the Heavy Rain collector's edition.
These Chronicles are essentially additional scenes that flesh out the back-story of Heavy Rain's characters, which is why it makes perfect sense that The Taxidermist scene from last year's Leipzig Game Convention (see below) will form the first Chronicle in the series. This, alongside a couple of other gems, will make up the collector's edition's contents:
- Heavy Rain: Chronicle 1 - The Taxidermist - Experience Madison's dangerous investigation in full, before it's available on the PlayStation Store.
- The Heavy Rain Official Soundtrack - Recorded at the legendary Abbey Road studios, and filled with the powerful orchestral themes that form a key part of the experience of playing Heavy Rain
- Dynamic XMB theme - Lend a little Heavy Rain ambience to your XMB
Quantic Dreams and SCEE unveil the stunning PS3 noir-thriller...
According to the CE's reveal on Sony's EU PlayStation blog, the box will look pretty snazzy as well as it comes adorned in a "rain effect" slipcase that's embossed to look like it's been rained on.

I have to say this doesn't make me too happy with Sony. Heavy Rain was t he 1st game that made me really happy that I bought the PS3. I played sporatically before that and the games were good but not stellar. I've never invested this much emotion in a game before and I want more! Like Jayden I'm a junkie but for HR DLC.
Sony let us have more. I think it's time for a petition to Sony. Quantic Dreams is great, stop controlling them, give us DLC.

Ughh, well I think that... there should be... ughh, a game, thats about a game...like you would be playing this guy or a girl, and while through out the whole game, it would show them playing someone else on their little monitor, sittin on the couch or some sort of sitting device... and R* could be the one that produces it, making it be in a giant open world setting, so long as wherever you go in the game, your main character is playing a game...about, ugh, maybe extreme hopscotch or fat guy playing a banjo (like guitar hero but better)...anyhoo, I just wanted to share my 2 cents, R* if you need any more ideas, look me up in yellow pages under The Custodial Dragon in El Paso TX. i'm not just being a fanboy here, but i've read two seperate interviews (games master & official ps3 magazine) with cage where he states heavy rain wouldn't be that feasable on 360 because of the dvd-format, suggesting in games master it'd take 3 dvds and that would include some extra compression (worse graphics/sound etc), so while that doesn't rule out heavy rain on 360, it certainly doesn't make it sound likely imo. and i'm hoping this next title will be a sci-fi games based on the heavy rain engine. heavy rain is easily my favourite game in years and years.
