Halo Wars Into 2009??? News
Shane Kim reveals that Ensemble Studios' Xbox 360-exclusive RTS wasn't ready to be shown off at this year's Spring Showcase...
By Jon WilcoxPosted: 14/05/2008
As the dust begins to settle at Microsoft's Xbox 360 Spring Showcase 2008 in San Francisco, it appears that the battlelines between the Redmond corporation's console and Sony's PlayStation 3 have been well and truly drawn.
With a selection of solid titles from the Locust-entrenched battles in Gears of War 2 to Fable 2 and a double-header of titles from Rare in the form of Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, there seems to be a fairly well-rounded mix of core and more casual games on offer. There were however notable absentees from the event, namely Remedy Entertainment's ever hibernating Alan Wake, and Ensemble Studios' Halo Wars RTS.
Speaking at a roundtable interview, the Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Game Studios, Shane Kim, revealed that the two games weren't in a position to be shown at the event and that they'd learnt their lesson from past mistakes. The latter point a none-too-subtle reference to the infamous E3 2006 demo of Silicon Knights' Too Human.
It certainly seems that the titles Microsoft shown off at the Dogpatch Studios based event form the crux of their first-party strength between now and Christmas, which suggests that neither title will make it into gamers' hands this side of January 1st.

Thanks for a really insightful review, it was spot on. Ive really enjoyed this game so far, been a player of RTS for a few years. I think if you treat this game as a fun RTS to play with your mates over a couple of beers etc perfect.

I just got it and HATE it! I hope I can get my money back. It didn't climb the mountain for me. Can stress enough how disappointed I was. It doesn't even deserve to have the word HALO on the box.

If you want to select a single unit, just press 'A' on that unit. Otherwise, RB and LB selects all local or global units.
Hope this helps Gaz.

being a huge fan of c&c games there was a few things i didnt like about the halo wars demo..like how you can only have 30 units on screen at once(could just be in the demo and not full game) and when you try to move a unit or tank past another unit it gets blocked and you have to move the other units out the way to clear the path..(in c&c the other units automatically moved out the way) and also how you cant pick individual units and move them one at a time. as far as i could see it only lets you move the whole army at once or all the units on screen at once..(correct me if im wrong on that one)..did anyone find the same things when they played it?? i'll still get the game as i think the full game will have ways round the issues i had with the demo ..
