Jerry Bruckheimer Moving Into Videogames News

Hollywood's action maestro, Jerry Bruckheimer, took the first steps into the video games industry with confirmation that the acclaimed producer will be establishing a new studio in collaboration with MTV Games.

Jerry Bruckheimer Games Inc. has appointed Jim Veevaert and Jay Cohen as President and President of Development respectively.  Veevaert has worked in the video games industry for the past 15 years, in which he oversaw Xbox 360 development and served as Executive Producer on Halo 3.  Veevaert has also worked with Epic Games on the Gears of War franchise and with Rare on the Viva Pinata series.

Cohen's most notable credit is establishing Ubisoft's North American subsidiary as Senior Vice President of Publishing, launching franchises that include Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, Ghost recon, Prince of Persia, Rayman and Assassin's Creed.

Initial information appears to suggest the studio will work with other developers to bring "groundbreaking interactive content and original intellectual property".

"Jim Veevaert and Jay Cohen are two of the most knowledgeable, brightest, and creative talents in this industry," said Jerry Bruckheimer. "Throughout their careers, Jim and Jay have both demonstrated their unstoppable desire to advance the medium, which is exactly what we do with feature films and television. We are going to create content that challenges the way things are done and the experiences gamers have today."
