Halo 3: Recon Name Changed News
Bungie decide to drop the Recon for something that doesn't exactly roll-of-the-tongue...
By Chris LeytonPosted: 26/11/2008
Forgive us for criticising the hallowed deities that are Bungie Software, but today's announcement of a name change for the game formerly known as Halo 3: Recon has to go down as one of the most ill-fated decisions made by the illustrious studio.
As of today the title for the hugely anticipated Halo 3 expansion will now be known as the rather more unremarkable Halo 3: ODST. Bungie explains the change as a "more straightforward account of the experience that awaits...", but we're still not particularly fond of it.
Beyond that Bungie failed to provide any further details on the title, but has re-edited the original announcement trailer to feature the new title.

gfh-77 there cant be a run-up to halo 3. at the end of halo 2 we see the forerunner ship with master cheif inside coming to earth.
Then at the begining of halo 3 we see that exact same ship with a chunk braking off and crashing with the master cheif inside...at what point could there be a run-up?
we already know the convenent invaded earth, with the elites leading the charge, it would be obviouse that also onj earth the brutes started to kill the elites when the civil war broke out.

the 3 new maps are longbow and that lot, thats what I thought it would be, since all the things together are probably larger than some other games which are alot smaller

The single player experience is gooing to decide this games value for me, if it is long enough, well done like a regular game the the value is there, 3 new maps is worth ten bucks, so the game needs to be worth 50.

why dont they make a halo game set like a side game to halo 2 or the run up to halo 3 at least we'll get the same quality game like halo 3 provided, and as a plus point the game engin could be revamped so all the negatives surrounding weather halo 3 was running lower than 720p could be well and truely wiped clean and they can at least get the game looking better than halo 3 if thats possible which with games like fuel/far cry 2 im sure its possible and will be awsome.

if you've beaten halo 3 on legendary, there is no way thats the last of master chief. The biggest most solid way to END a series is to scrap or kill the very person/character the series is based on.
They've made it clear they don't want to kill the series by any means, so I can pretty much guarantee that master chief will return...
What I doubt is that they'll make a game that continues off of halo 3's storyline. It would be difficult. I think master chief will be in a future project, I think they'll make a game just about master chiefs story and the battle BEFORE things got escalated and other races got involved.
