Vivendi announce retail sales of 1.7 million copies for Half-Life2, with no mention on the number Steam downloads…
Itâ??s been just under two months now since Vivendi-Universal released Valveâ??s highly anticipated and highly applauded Half-Life2 to the world, and today the company announced that the game had so far sold around 1.7 million copies through retail outlets.
Besides the more convention manner, Half-Life2 was also sold through Vavleâ??s online distribution system, Steam, which also doubled up as an anti-piracy measure. At the moment though, there is no word as to how successful Steam has transpired to be as both Valve and VU have kept the number of HL2 downloads via Steam, quiet.
Deliberations are currently taking place to decide the winning entries in the Half-Life2 Deathmatch competition that Valve ran a few weeks back, so expect more anti-grav gun action shortly â?“ weâ??ll have more on that and the Steam figures, soonâ?¦
