Gordon Freeman’s adventures sets the BAFTA Games Awards alight...

It was a very good night for Valve and Half-Life 2 last night as the game won in six categories at the 2nd BAFTA Games Awards. Picking up the awards for Best Game, Best PC Game, Best Action/Adventure, Best Online & Multiplayer, Best Art Direction, and Best Animation, the game dominated the show, with Criterion Gamesâ?? Burnout 3: Takedown receiving three awards for Best Racer, Best Technical Direction, and Best PlayStation 2 Game. Halo 2 picked up Best Xbox Game, whilst Prince of Persia: Warrior Within won in the Best GameCube Game category.

A BAFTA Special Award was given to Rockstar Gamesâ?? Sam Houser and Leslie Benzies for their outstanding contribution to the industry, whilst Singstar/Singstar Party won the award for Originality Award. Best Audio went to Call of Duty: Finest Hour with the Best Music award going to Hitman: Contracts. Finally the Best Childrenâ??s Game Award went to Donga Konga with Pro Evolution 4 winning the gong for Best Sports Award.

Grant Dean, Chairman of the BAFTA Games Committee said, "Last year was a great year for the Video Games industry. These awards reflect the enormous achievements, progress and diversity that we have seen in that time. "
