Hackers attack ruins it for PC gamers as Vivendi confirm a new 2004 release date...

Having missed its original September 30th release date, things haven’t been good for the guys at Valve Software who are currently putting the final tweaks on the eagerly awaited ‘Half Life 2’.

Talk emerged late last week that hackers had broken into the internal Valve network and stolen HL2 source code through a vulnerability in Outlook and keyloggers; the latest comments from Valve backed this up and confirmed that the developer is hard at work trying to find the source of the leak instead of finishing up the game.

But unfortunately comments made in today’s ‘Les Echos’ suggest that Vivendi Universal has pushed the games release back to April 2004, whilst the developers rewrite sections of code that were violated during the attack.

Bad news for the PC community as a bunch of small-minded individuals ruin it for the rest of us; if you know anything about the subject send an e-mail to helpvalve@valvesoftware.com, we’re sure they’ll be happy with any help or support.
