CNN confirm a vague release date and claim that Arkane Studios are developing a Source powered title…

CNN today reported some interesting titbits regarding the on-going ‘Half Life 2’ saga. Breaking the recent media blackout, Doug Lombardi, Director of Marketing, confirmed that the game is on schedule for release in the summer, but refused to announce a more specific date.

The article claims that ‘Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines’ – the first third-party title to license the Source engine – has also been delayed because of the infamous theft, claiming that the delay is in order to implement the same security features needed on ‘Half Life 2’. It’s believed that ‘Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines’ will now be released in spring 2005, as opposed to later in this year.

Finally the article claims that Valve will soon announce a similar licensing deal with Arkane Studios, the independent French developer who created the popular PC and Xbox RPG ‘Arx Fatalis’. It’s believed that the unannounced game is already in development; however specific details regarding a title, release date or format have yet to be leaked just of yet.

We’ll have more details on ‘Half Life 2’ and the as-of-yet unannounced title from Arkane Studios soon.
