Gabe Newell assures Half-Life fans that Valve is still working on the long awaited Episode 3...

The last time we heard from Valve about Half-Life 2: Episode 3, Doug Lombardi suggested that it would arrive around about 2010. News has been suspiciously dry on the Half-Life 2 front since then but Gabe Newell has now assured fans of the series that Valve is still working on the next instalment.

"Yes, of course we're doing Episode 3," Newell told Geoff Keighley in the latest episode of GTTV (there's a reveal of a new Left 4 Dead 2 campaign through there too). When pressed on the matter by Keighley as to whether Valve is still actively working on the project, Newell responded: "Oh, absolutely."

There you have it then. Episode 3 might be a long time coming but Valve hasn't forgotten about it.

They could at least say "we're hard at  work on it".  Not something like "We can't tell you why it hasn't come out yet".   I like Valve, but I'm not some mindless fanboy who will just like a company no matter what.

Yeah, but it'll be no CoD4. We'll have to wait another year at least for the next Infinity Ward game.

Perhaps we're going to have Blue Shift 2 in between - I wouldn't mind playing as Barney again.
