HAZE'Y HD Claims News

HAZE becomes the latest title to full somewhat short of the native HD standards...

It seems the "is it /isn't it" HD saga continues to rage on with the latest revelations surrounding Free Radical Design's impending PS3 shooter, HAZE.

An interview with Free Radical's Derek Littlewood featured on Ripten confirms that the heavily touted PS3 exclusive renders at a native resolution of 1024x576, making it significantly lower then the HD standards espoused by both Sony and Microsoft.

Of course the PS3 upscales the image quite tidily to 720p, so it's something only visual connoisseurs and bitter fanboys will be concerned with, the rest of us will be happy with the silky-smooth framerate as Littlewood states.

"We prioritise a nice smooth framerate over a different res. Personally, I don't really buy the whole thing. People did the same with Call of Duty, they did the same with Halo, and they say with those games 'It's not running at true HD!' And it's like, I don't care. If the game looks good and it runs smoothly, those are the important things to me."

Following claims that GTA4 didn't reach 720p on the PS3, even the Xbox 360's record has been tarnished with the likes of Halo 3 coming someway short of the true native HD resolutions.

You spend the whole time saying how the gameplay is so mediocre but there's a fairly decent plot (which I don't necessarily agree with - an interesting idea, poorly executed, and with a terrible script IMO) and yet give it a score significantly above average...?! I wanted Haze to be good and bought it a while back when I saw it for £10 online (thought the demo was okay), but man, it was just so dissappointing and unfinished. It's a terrible shame because I love the TimeSplitters games, but this was just a shadow of their former work.

Took 6 hours to complete... waste of time and effort really. Graphics aren't that bad- could be better but really could be worse. All in all a sub par campaign mode with a pretty good multiplayer which saves it from a dire rating.
