Ubisoft confirms the delay of Free Radical's first-person shooter as Splinter Cell Conviction is pushed into the next fiscal year...
One of the key titles for PlayStation 3, Free Radical Design's HAZE, has been delayed to the first quarter of 2008 by publisher Ubisoft. Recently given a December 14th release date by Ubi, the decision has now been made to push it into what is now a three-month period of several triple-A titles including Army of Two, Mercenaries 2, and of course, Grand Theft Auto IV. It's also unclear how the delay will affect the timed exclusive HAZE on Xbox 360 and PC.
Confirmation of the delay to HAZE comes in Ubisoft's first half fiscal results for the year, which has seen Splinter Cell: Conviction pushed back for a second occasion, this time into the second fiscal quarter (April - June 2008).
Despite this, the publisher's top brass remain upbeat. In a statement, CEO Yves Guillemot commented:
"Ubisoft's excellent sales performance during the first half of fiscal 2007-08 has considerably boosted our earnings figures for the period. In addition, the early indications for our Christmas games launches have been positive, especially for Assassin's Creed, whose sell-through sales have already topped the record level of 1 million units. These very strong trends further underpin our confidence that we will achieve our objectives for the current year and add further impetus for fiscal 2008-09, which we expect to be a another year of robust growth for the Group."
Sales in the first half of the 2007/8 fiscal year rose by 52% on the year, from 172.1 million Euros to 261.4 million Euros on the year. The publisher also reversed its fortunes in both operating and net incomes, with recorded at 12.5 million Euros and 30.6 million Euros respectively (up from operating and net losses of 35.3 million Euros and 20.5 million Euros respectively).
Ubisoft earlier today confirmed the development of Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, the follow up to one of the most compelling FPS titles of early 2006.

I can't believe you gave this review 7/10 -- there is no way that tallies with the text! You spend the whole time saying how the gameplay is so mediocre but there's a fairly decent plot (which I don't necessarily agree with - an interesting idea, poorly executed, and with a terrible script IMO) and yet give it a score significantly above average...?!
I wanted Haze to be good and bought it a while back when I saw it for £10 online (thought the demo was okay), but man, it was just so dissappointing and unfinished. It's a terrible shame because I love the TimeSplitters games, but this was just a shadow of their former work.

Haze is brilliant? Are you sure? I think most people agree it's a great big pile of steaming manure.

i think haze is a great game, yes the ai is a bit poo but the ai can be worse in other games look at army of twos ai,ive been waiting all year for it to come out, i bought it the week it came out and i thought wow! how dare u say the gameplay in haze is bland i never got bored of it, yes its short, yes the ai is a bit crap, but i love it, one of my classics, its not as good as i thought it would be, and as for the graphics it was made for hi-def ply it in hd and it looks stunning, the cut scenes aren't that long look at mgs 3 and 4 in fact all of them number 3 must have atleast 3 hours of cut scenes in a 1o or 12 chapter game now thats boring.

Wow... as disapointing as christmas without a new bike in campaign mode. However, multiplayer is a saving grace. Took 6 hours to complete... waste of time and effort really. Graphics aren't that bad- could be better but really could be worse. All in all a sub par campaign mode with a pretty good multiplayer which saves it from a dire rating.
