Activision confirms a date and price for the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock downloadable content...

Activision has today confirmed that Metallica's nine studio album, Death Magnetic, will be available to download for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock day and date with the album from Friday.

Costing 1440 Microsoft Points (£13), the DLC will include bonus renditions of Suicide Redemption, and will be fully compatible with the upcoming release of Guitar Hero: World Tour.

"We've been working very closely with Metallica and we're extremely excited to offer Death Magnetic not only in its entirety, but also with the exclusive recordings of 'Suicide & Redemption' as downloadable content to Guitar Hero fans," said Tim Riley, Vice President of Music Affairs for Activision Blizzard. "We're proud to be setting a new precedent for our two industries, making an entire new album available in two different mediums simultaneously."

Death Magnetic certainly sounds like a truly epic album, and Guitar Hero fans will have to warm up their fingers before going wild with the tracks - the shortest song (My Apocalypse) is five minutes long, with Suicide Redemption just shy of ten minutes.
