Activision reveals that Wii users will be able to download tracks for Guitar Hero World Tour...
Buried in an E3 fact sheet for Guitar Hero World Tour is the revelation that Wii owners will be able to download tracks for the first time in a Guitar Hero game.
It hasn't been possible to download track packs for the Wii in previous GH games for the simple reason that the Wii doesn't have a hard drive. Exactly how Activision will avoid this problem with World Tour is unclear at this point, but the clever boffins have clearly found a way.
In the same fact sheet, Activision also states that Xbox 360 and PS3 users who also own a Line 6 POD will be able to use the high-tech piece of kit in World Tour's Music Studio. In other words, they can use the POD to add guitar cab and amp emulation, as well as a library of effects to their compilations.
In other GH news, MTV's Multiplayer blog reports that Guitar Hero World Tour on Xbox 360 will be compatible with instruments from the original Rock Band and other third party peripherals.
There was no confirmation whether this would be the case with the Wii, PS3, and PS2 versions of GH World Tour, and we'll have to wait and see what the score will be with Rock Band 2's peripherals, but it's certainly a step in the right direction for rhythm gamers.
