Activision Could Profit From Gamers' Creations News

Activision Blizzard's CEO, Bobby Kotick, has revealed that the company may implement a subscription based service for its GH Tunes feature in Guitar Hero World Tour, which would charge players for downloading user generated content in the game.

The GH Tunes feature, which allows users to upload tracks they've created in GHWT's new Music Studio mode for other gamers to download and rate, has had around 25,000 tracks uploaded to it since the game's US launch on October 26th (it's coming to Europe next Friday).

Kotick revealed in a post earnings report conference call that Activision Blizzard is expecting a further 75,000 uploaded tracks to GH Tunes by the year's end and the company's CEO was bullish about the money making opportunities this opens up:

"The ability to offer these songs on a subscription basis may very well result in the newest subscription opportunity in our portfolio," Kotick commented according to Kotaku.

In the same conference call, Kotick also defended the company's reasons for selling off Vivendi Games projects, such as Ghostbusters and 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, in the wake of the Activision Vivendi merger.
