Actvision unveils the Guns 'n' Roses/Velvet Revolver guitarist as a boss battle character in the upcoming instalment...

Activision has today confirmed that iconic Guns 'n' Roses and Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash, will be making a cameo appearance in the upcoming (and newly re-christened) Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

Unveiled as one of the Boss Battle characters in the game, the guitarist will also be joined by one his past tracks, G 'n' R's Welcome to the Jungle, along with master tracks from the likes of The Rolling Stones, Beastie Boys, Muse and Pearl Jam.

"Guitar legend Slash, combined with Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock's robust soundtrack and innovative new game features, will continue to solidify the brand's leadership in the rhythm-action genre," said Robin Kaminsky, Executive Vice President of Activision Publishing.

"Additionally, our diverse and well-rounded E3 portfolio underscores Activision's continued commitment to building brands that appeal to global audiences and delivering top-quality games that delight fans worldwide."

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is currently scheduled for released this autumn on Xbox 360, PlayStation3, PlayStation2, and Wii, where it'll go head-to-head with Electronic Arts' Rock Band, which is being developed by original Guitar Hero studio, Harmonix.
