Rock Band Guitar Works With GH: Aerosmith News

Could Harmonix and Activision be making nice over peripheral compatibility between Rock Band and Guitar Hero? Maybe so, as it seems you can use Rock Band guitars on the Xbox 360 version of the latest Guitar Hero game (GH: Aerosmith).

At least that's what a G4TV report states, noting that even the whammy bar and Star Power are in good working order.

Although Harmonix has made Rock Band compatible with Guitar Hero peripherals in the past, this is the first instance where Activision has allowed the Rock Band axe into its hallowed Guitar Hero series.

A minor dispute surfaced in December of last year when Activision allegedly blocked a Harmonix PS3 patch that allowed GH controllers to be used in Rock Band (this was already the case on the Xbox 360 version of Rock Band).

Activision later stated, "We believe we should be compensated for the use of our technology," before adding, "We are really and truly not looking at this from the financial standpoint . . . We are looking at this from the consumer standpoint."

Let's just hope that Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour peripherals are combatible as well.
